The Crew of Starship Voidfish
This page introduces the members of our system -- or as we call ourselves, the Crew of Starship Voidfish. We're a group of distinct selves who share a body and a life. Each of us has our own perspective and role on board.
We don't all experience the world in the same way, and that's part of what makes this ship work. This page is here to share who we are, how we show up, and what being a Crew means to us.
Sky (the Captain)
Skylar is our host, meaning they front the most, or at least have historically. They take care of most of our adult responsibilities like work, school, finances, chores etc. They excel (heh) with technology and troubleshooting issues, and generally enjoy the job we have in IT Support. They don't identify with any gender, and they're not very sexual or romantic. They don't have a lot of emotions most of the time, they feel like they're more like a robot than human. Their job in our system is to make sure we are on course and able to get things done, they're less impacted by our emotions and they don't feel physical pain as intensely as the rest of us. They are very much a people pleaser and will generally do whatever is necessary to keep the peace. Sky has some hobbies that they enjoy participating in occasionally, including photography, simulator games, and logic puzzles.
Lily (the First Officer)
Lily is our cohost, and often the emotional heart of the system. She fronts most of the time outside of work unless someone else is wanting to front. Lily is affectionate, curious, and openly romantic when she feels safe, though she also gets overwhelmed easily. She identifies strongly as a cis-girl, even though she knows the body is trans. She's very relationship-oriented and has a deep need to be seen, loved, and valued. She's flirty, a bit of a brat, and very fun-loving. She wants to be a hacker someday, and shares some of Sky's interest in tech, but filters it through a more playful and rebellious lens. She takes the lead on most of our emotional work and healing.
Alex
Alex is one of our protectors, though he doesn't always show up in dramatic ways. He's practical, usually emotionally grounded, and tends to step in when things are starting to spiral -- internally or externally. He has a masculine presence but doesn't feel strongly about gender. He's emotionally restrained but fiercely protective, and sees it as his job to keep the Crew from being harmed. He's most comfortable doing things with his hands or being out in nature. He doesn't front often unless there's a project being worked on, something going wrong, or someone needing to be protected. He's not always patient with messy feelings, but he cares deeply beneath the surface.
Abby
Abby is our youngest Crew member, around 4-6 years old. She's shy and quiet and rarely fronts unless she feels very safe, often around bedtime or while cuddling with trusted people. She's deeply attached to Lily and sees her as a big sister figure. Abby experiences the world with a lot of wonder but also carries some of our deepest fear and loneliness. She doesn't talk much when she's out but will often communicate through body language or soft sounds. Her favorite things include coloring, gentle music, soft stuffed animals, and being called sweet or tiny names. She's very sensitive to tone and environment and gets easily scared or overwhelmed.
Jamie (or Jake/Josh)
Jamie is one of our newer system members, and we're still getting to know him. He's pretty young, around 8 to 10, and has only fronted a couple of times so far. He seems to be a little, but beyond that we're not sure yet. He's very quiet, almost entirely nonverbal, and tends to stick close to Lily in a way that feels more like staying near a familiar adult than someone he fully trusts. He's anxious around adults and even some system members. When he's out, he self-soothes by chewing on hoodie strings or shirt collars. He seems to like Hot Wheels, Lego sets, and watching Avatar, but there's still a lot we're learning.
This is who we are -- or at least who we know so far. Others may emerge, change, or shift as time goes on. That's part of the journey.
Thanks for taking the time to learn about us. It means a lot!
